On August 9th, we celebrate the International Day of Indigenous Peoples! Let's recognize the cultural richness and the struggle for self-determination of our Indigenous peoples in Guatemala. Together, we can build a more just and respectful society. 
Self-determination defines and complements all Indigenous rights. At Jotay, we promote knowledge and advocacy of collective rights of Indigenous peoples, strengthening their autonomy and resilience. Additionally, the work we do with our partner organizations, established in the regions, is essential, as they work in favor of indigenous peoples.
In the framework of the International Day of Indigenous Peoples, we highlight the importance of sustainable alternative development models and the protection of natural resources, led by Indigenous communities.
