Justice and Human Rights

Mission:
To strengthen defenders, communities, and social organizations so they can exercise their rights, seek justice, and promote a pluralistic state, with an emphasis on indigenous peoples, women, and migrant populations.

Challenges:
Guatemala faces democratic deterioration with a concentration of power, criminalization of human rights defenders, and restrictions on civil society space and work. This has increased violence, migration, and humanitarian crises.

Opportunities:
Despite the adverse context, communities and organizations, along with international allies, have denounced human rights violations and worked for equality and against racism.

Our Commitment:
To strengthen civil society so that human rights defenders can raise their voices in the pursuit of justice. We foster alliances for the protection of rights and the construction of a plurinational state that respects the self-determination of peoples.
