Disaster Prevention and Humanitarian Aid

Mission:

To strengthen communities and social organizations to reduce disaster risks and respond to humanitarian crises, ensuring protection and quality care for vulnerable populations.

Challenges:

Guatemala is highly vulnerable to natural disasters and climate threats, which exacerbate poverty, food insecurity, and forced migration. The combination of geological and climatic factors, along with inequality and exclusion, increases the risk for communities.

Opportunities:

Indigenous sustainable management practices and the experience of our partner organizations in risk reduction provide a solid foundation for improving community resilience. Additionally, alliances with churches and humanitarian organizations enhance response capacity.

Our Commitment:

To promote the adoption of risk analysis and prevention measures in communities and partner organizations. Strengthen coordination with the National Coordinator for Desaster Reduction (CONRED in Spanish) system and other humanitarian organizations to improve disaster preparedness and response, increasing resilience to climate change.
