Her story is a testament to resilience and the positive impact that development projects can have in rural communities.<br \/>Andrea grew up facing barriers that limited her opportunities. Despite her academic performance, her formal education ended in the third year of middle school when her parents decided she wouldn\u2019t continue studying. \u201cThey believed that women don\u2019t have many opportunities to get a job. It was very difficult for me to accept that because I always wanted to be someone in life,\u201d recounts Andrea. <br \/>After a year of uncertainty about her future, a classmate told her about the Barbara Ford Peace Center project. Despite her mother\u2019s initial doubts, Andrea insisted on participating. \u201cMy mom thought it might be a scam, but I knew it was an opportunity I couldn\u2019t pass up. She finally let me attend, and it was the best thing that could have happened to me,\u201d Andrea shares with a smile. <br \/>The project offered training in sewing and tailoring, as well as emotional healing circles and business planning workshops. Each session made a difference in her life. \u201cThe family healing circles helped me a lot. I was resentful toward my mom for not letting me keep studying, but upon reflection, I understood the importance of strengthening our relationships,\u201d Andrea explains. <br \/>Andrea also found comfort and motivation in the group circles. \u201cListening to other women\u2019s stories made me realize I wasn\u2019t alone. We had all faced adversity, but together we learned to be strong and keep fighting for our dreams,\u201d she remarks.<br \/>Moreover, the sessions with the Center\u2019s psychologist were essential for overcoming moments of distress. \u201cThey helped me let go of the past and focus on my present and my future. Now I know why I get up every day, and that fills me with purpose,\u201d Andrea affirms. <br \/>With the tools she acquired, Andrea not only has mastered technical skills but also has begun planning her own business. \u201cThe project opened doors for me to continue studying tailoring and sewing. Now my parents see that this can be a real opportunity, and they support me more,\u201d she says proudly. <br \/>Her short-term goals include completing her training and graduating from the program. In the long term, she dreams of diversifying her skills and exploring new educational and professional opportunities. \u201cI don\u2019t want to rely on just one profession. Competition is fierce, and I want to have options to ensure my future,\u201d explains Andrea. <br \/>\u201cSometimes we think our problems will simply be over, but healing circles and learning opportunities are crucial for relieving stress and finding purpose.
